Allen Green

Multi-Instrumentalist, Composer, Private Instructor, Clinician

About Allen

Allen Green is a Los Angeles–based multi-woodwind instrumentalist whose work spans saxophones, flutes, clarinets, and recorders across jazz, chamber music, and large ensemble settings. His performances have taken him from Japan to Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall and Dizzy’s Club in New York City, as well as venues such as Sam First in Los Angeles. He has performed alongside artists including the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Terell Stafford, Dick Oatts, and Donald Harrison. Equally at home as a saxophonist and woodwind musician, Green brings a broad instrumental palette shaped by extensive work with leading performers and educators including Dick Oatts, Dan Higgins, Tim Warfield, Ted Nash, Tom Peterson, Bob Reynolds, Dr. Anna Meyer, and former Los Angeles Philharmonic clarinetist David Howard.

Green has also found deep fulfillment in teaching, working with saxophone, flute, and clarinet students across a wide age range. For him, passing on what he's learned to the next generation of musicians is just as important as his own growth as a player. As an original member of The Compass Quintet, a jazz saxophone/woodwind quintet based in Philadelphia, he helped create and record two albums of entirely original arrangements; the second featured Dick Oatts and brought a rare, distinctive voice to chamber music within the jazz idiom.
